A lack of inspiration...

...overcome only by sheer boredom, the uninteresting one logs in, staring blankly at the blogging window.

"Nothing," uttered the guy behind the keyboard as the cursor blinked on without a care in the world.

Half an hour later and nothing has changed.  The clock reads 2:30 AM as a band of crickets plays outside.  Maybe something about the meaning of life?  Nah, anyone can look in a dictionary.  What's playing?  A Country boy Can Survive by hank Williams Jr.  That's no good, no one likes good music anymore.  Oh, what about life, and the same stuff everyone else posts in their blogs?  Conformity is not the answer.

Aha!

There it is!

A topic worthy of discussion!

Anyone who is a purist of the Country genre has noticed a trend toward a pop sound, leaving behind the purer sounds of the greats like the Man in Black and the Redheaded Stranger.  There are people today listening to country who have never heard Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, The Higwayman, A Boy Named Sue, Mule Skinner Blues, Ghostriders in the Sky, Always on my Mind, Ode to Billy Joe, and so many other great songs.  Now, I'm not here as an evangelist for Country, that's not the point of this entry.  Not at all, since the music a person listens to is based on many variables that are different for everyone and it is just a matter of perspective.  I brought myself to watch MTV when nothing good was on TV.  Now, the first thing I saw was some big black dude who looked like he had his teeth chromed, and I couldn't bring myself to actually listening to the whole thing.  Somewhere along the line, I saw a video of some Black Eyed peas song and one of the guys had a shirt on that said CCCP(Soviet abbreviation for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR)), and again, I was kinda stuck with a "what the..." look on my face.  Moving on, I managed to watch almost an hour of MTV without digging my ear drums out with a pocket knife, and I came to the conclusion that the same trend was affecting every genre of music.  My conclusion is that it is that it's easier to be an individual when everyone is in to the same thing.  With the exception of rap, I can tolerate almost anything, and I acknowledge that the various genres represent the varied backgrounds of the people who listen to them, but the trend towards the same generic sounding music, I can't help but wonder if people really appreciate the fact that they are simply marketing demographics and what they listen to is watered down to target the widest possible audience and move the most overpriced merchandise.

There it is.
